It is more or less a one way communication.<br> The lecturer can speak without notes or read a text; the spoken words could be visual supported by a presentation or by other media (e.g. flipchart, board). Sometimes interactive methods or tools (e.g. questions, discussion) can be added a lecture.<br>Online-lectures will be sent from one place to another via telecommunication or by internet with audio and video; the first online lectures were broadcast via radio only with audio or later also with video via television. It is a good method to fill a great distance gap and to present topics and peoples on different places in Europe. It gives a common feeling and sometimes also empowerment to the audience of the different places.  Also the online-lectures can be supported by visual presentations and in addition interactive methods like discussion or after the lecture online communication with the lecturer, experts, participants or a wider audience. A specific problem in the context of cross national or European projects is the language. It is helpful, if the audience understands English or another common language. If not, the lecture must be translated (simultaneously or consecutive) which will be an organizationally problem and cost-intensive.
