{"id":1791,"date":"2019-06-24T14:34:21","date_gmt":"2019-06-24T14:34:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bbe-toolbox.eu\/?post_type=project&#038;p=1791"},"modified":"2019-07-09T13:55:48","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T13:55:48","slug":"danube-networkers-neighbours-at-work","status":"publish","type":"project","link":"https:\/\/bbe-toolbox.eu\/project\/danube-networkers-neighbours-at-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Danube-Networkers &#8211; Neighbours at work"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The ongoing Danube Strategy of the European\nCommission aims at strengthening the network of the countries along the Danube\non economic, social, ecological and political levels, while preserving the\nunique natural and cultural space of the Danube. This process can only be\nsuccessful, when the civil society is included in this process, when it\nrecognises the added value of the joint efforts and when it will be prepared to\nactively participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The older generations possess knowledge and\nexperience acquired in their profession, private life and social engagement;\nthey were confronted by different social and political systems and were\nwitnesses of their transformation. They are actors as well as consumers in a\nchanging society that due to reduction of the borders and process of democratisation\nprovides new possibilities for social participation within the own state and in\na cross-national way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through new forms of activating Lifelong\nlearning the project aims at empowering older citizens for participation in the\ndevelopment of the Danube Region so that they understand the chances and the\nrisks in the current developments, articulate their interests and define\ntogether the possibilities for action and for future perspectives of their\nRegion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were involved over 250 older persons 55+\nas well as a number of younger ones from education and civic organisations in Austria,\nBulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Romania and Slovenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actions included education of the participants\nvia lectures on selected subjects that concern the future of the Danube Region.\nThe topics of these lectures were discussed in national citizens\u2019 panels,\ncross-national discussion in an Internet forum (web-based cross-national\ncitizen\u2019s panel), cross-national face-to-face citizens\u2019 panel in Croatia and a closing\nconference in Brodaritsa.
