Background

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is of increasing importance within Europe. Much information about social and political development is only accessible on the Internet. According to research, within two years, the majority of the Europeans will have Internet access. Older people in many EU countries have so far been excluded from these developments.

Ways of Working

unicourseglasgow_2.jpg

In the EuCoNet project the participants play active roles by reflecting on their cultural experience of learning and using the Internet, and exploring new ways of using a computer, such as e-learning. They exchange and compare information, and review ways of applying what is best from each country.

EuCoNet will disseminate experiences by:

  • Linking with networks that can spread the results (multiplier networks), such as national associations, U3A organisations, and other national bodies
  • Supporting Internet Cafés for older people
  • Contributing to the development of interactive learning material for seniors
