The evaluation of my study

The project „Value of bread in time, place and culture“ was very difficult. We tried to form the questions in the questionnaire in order to clarify the variance of respect for bread during the 20th century as a basic nutrition. We offered these questions in summary to our partners.

The work on this project was divided into 3 groups.
    1) Bread as the basic nutrition
    2) Respect to bread
    3) Traditions and customs

Every student chose his own preferred subject. Then we worked with information from for example literature, websites, magazines, collections of work. We got the most important knowledge from personal statements. The work in the field was difficult mainly because of the communication with the old people. The people usually shared their life stories with us. Their stories were sometimes nice and sometimes really sad and they were related to a big variety of places such as Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany.

The work and the quantitative and qualitative evaluation took us the whole school year 2000-2001.
The project “Housing of seniors” on which we were working during a year 2002 was divided into two individual blocks.
    1) The renovation of town
    2) Housing of seniors and their care

These were the proposals from our partners abroad. The project was very difficult because knowledge of architecture was necessary.
We visited a lot of institutions in town and also out of town. We got a lot of information on this topic and it was necessary to check all of it. We participated on a lot of public meetings, which had to do with the renovating plans of town and we organized symposiums for example with the residents in houses for seniors.

We worked with a big interest and responsibility. We learned how to communicate with people, how to prepare the interviews and how to collect the materials from different institutions. We also learned how to use information from the Internet.

We used the computers at the university a lot. Most of the students cannot use the computers regularly and that was a complication in our work. The next problem was low knowledge of languages. Also the language barrier made difficulties in communication with partners abroad and in the use of the forum of the program SoLiLL.
However, the senior students are interested in learning languages and also in having training in use of computers.
