Summary of Results

Stand:

7. How much time did you devote to the project?

7.1. Time spent working on your own with the media (e-mail, Internet)
Very different responses came to the question of time working on ones’ own with the Internet and e-mail. The work with the media was a specialised task in some groups (for example Lyon, Ulm). This was partially due to access to computer and the Internet which limited the time one could work with it In Budejovice, the students could use the computers primarily during the lessons – 2 lessons a week. Vicenza estimates the time that the seniors used the new communication media to 20 hours in total.

7.2. Time spent working on your own with the theme (research, reading, working on texts, pictures, translating, etc. )
Most senior students have spent large amount of time working on their own with the theme – researching, writing, reading, etc. In Budejovice, 1-5 hours a day was spent working on the project. Similarly, in Ulm, before completion of a product such as summaries of research results, etc. some members worked two or more full days a week on the project. In Vicenza, average time spent on this kind of work is estimated at 200 hours in total.

7.3. Time spent working in the group with the media (e-mail, Internet)
The groups have answered this question very differently. While in Lyon, little time was spent working with the media in the group, in Budejovice it is the opposite. This is however probably due to the fact that the Czech seniors seem to have been working with the computers and the Internet regularly in their group lessons. Ulm reports individual differences. Vicenza estimates the time spent working in the group at 20 hours in total.

7.4. Time spent working in the group on the theme (research, working on texts, lectures and seminars, discussions, evaluation, etc. )
The time spent on the research themes in a group, with work on texts, lectures, seminars, research, evaluation, etc. was seen by the most partners as being high. While Ulm estimates a minimum of 5-10 hours a month and similar estimate is provided by Vicenza with 90 hours for each subject (Housing and Bread), Arnhem suggests a time of 8-10 hours a week. While Granada reports absolute satisfaction with the time spent on the project, Budejovice see it as “great but time consuming”.
