70% der Kursteilnehmer sind über 65 Jahre alt, d.h. sie sind pensioniert und – wie sich im Lauf der Gespräche zeigte – ein guter Teil von ihnen hat mit der Pensionierung eine sinnvolle Beschäftigung gesucht – und gefunden.

Bei den Antworten auf die Frage nach der Motivation für eine solche Suche gab es natürlich eine bunte Palette von Antworten. Von „Ich möchte endlich Kunstgeschichte studieren“ über „Ich will eine aktive Oma für meine Enkelkinder sein“ bis zu „Es gibt so viele Menschen, denen es schlechter geht als mir, da will ich mich engagieren“.

Die Diskussion wurde noch interessanter, wie der Ausdruck „Sinnvolle Beschäftigung“ definiert werden sollte. Gleichzeitig wurde natürlich auch besprochen „Wo liegen meine Begabungen? Wo finde ich Aufgabengebiete, die meinen Talenten entsprechen?“

Nicht immer gelingt es, Menschen aus der Reserve zu locken, manche möchten einfach in Ruhe gelassen werden. Aber im Verlauf der Gespräche ergab sich doch ein breites Spektrum an persönlichem Engagement und ich möchte im Folgenden einige bemerkenswerte Beispiele freiwilliger Tätigkeiten nennen:

Eine pensionierte evangelische Ordensschwester macht einen 2-jährigen Kurs in Sterbebegleitung.

• Eine frühere Gymnasiallehrerin kümmert sich um einen afrikanischen Flüchtling, der zwar inzwischen Asylstatus hat aber damit ist die Betreuung nicht zu Ende.
• Eine pensionierte Volksschullehrerin arbeitet bei einer großen Organisation, die u. a. Hausaufgabenbetreuung vor allem für Kinder von Zuwanderern anbietet.
• Eine ehemalige Musiklehrerin engagiert sich an einer Musikschule für Kinder.
• Eine frühere Polizei-Sekretärin erleichtert einer querschnittgelähmten Frau die Mobilität außerhalb der Wohnung.
• Eine pensionierte Fluglotsin hilft in einer Pfarre bei der Abgabe von preiswerten Lebensmitteln und Hygieneartikeln an Bedürftige.

Die Liste ist hier nicht zu Ende. Betätigungsfelder und Notwendigkeiten gibt es unendlich viele und ich möchte mir wünschen, dass die Klassendiskussionen als Anerkennung und auch als Ermunterung gesehen werden.

Rosi Müller from ViLE e.V., Germany, reports about the project “Ulmliner” in which she and other older volunteers and children with migration background from Ulm scholls work together on developing guided tours in Ulm.

V življenju vsak prispeva po svojih najboljši močeh, vedenju in znanju. Smisel vsega je deliti to kar imamo in tako drugim pomagati na poti razvoja v boljšo osebo, posredno pa v boljšo organizacijo in družbo. Z učnim partnerstvom TMYC se je Izobraževalni center Kadis 2002 v roku dveh let podal novim izzivom naproti. Naše akcije so bile usmerjene v diseminacijo aktivnosti, oseben stik s prostovoljci, pogovor o njihovih dosedanjih izkušnjah in osebnih spremembah, ki so iz tega sledile. Poleg tega smo se lotili tudi zbiranja intervjujev, doživljajskih zgodb, obiskali smo celo prostovoljce v šentjakobskem gledališču, kjer se je odstrlo posebno področje prostovoljnega udejstvovanja.

 Različne akcije so nadalje pripomogle k dvigu prepoznavnosti prostovoljskega dela, povezovanja prostovoljcev na lokalni in državni ravni, ter na koncu povezovanju prostovoljcev na nivoju partnerstva.

 Prostovoljci iz različnih področij so različno usposobljeni za delo z uporabniki in po temeljitem premisleku, smo prišli do ideje da bi  prostovoljcem v mesecu maju ponuditi delavnice za dvig mehke veščine reševanja problemov. Delavnice so naletele na topel sprejem in tako smo skupaj organizirali 4 delavnice po Sloveniji in celo izven meja.

 Udeleženci delavnic so prihajali iz različnih vrst in vej prostovoljstva, od tabornikov, skavtov, prostovoljcev v četrtnih mladinskih centrih Mladi zmaji, prostovoljci Zveze prijateljev Mladine, iz Medobčinskega društva prijateljev, prostovoljci Voluntariata in še.

 Tema delavnice je pripomogla prostovoljcem ozavestiti različne zorne kote komuniciranja in odzivanja na konflikt, saj se v današnjem času na svojih poteh srečujemo z marsikatero preizkušnjo v odnosih, pa če je to v družini, na delovnem mestu ali na področju prostovoljstva.  Premostimo jo s pogumom, voljo in veščinami dobrega komuniciranja.

Prostovoljci so po aktivnem sodelovanju na delavnici kot pozitivne povratne informacije navajali, da so si pridobili uporabne tehnike komuniciranja, pomena srčnega predajanja svojih izkustev, odprtosti do drugačnega razmišljanja. Navedli so tudi da bodo sedaj lažje povezali misli s celoto in življenjskimi nameni, v problemih so prepoznali potencial za rast in preobrazbo kar jim bo vsekakor koristilo pri prostovoljnem delu.

 Glede na to, da so bili udeleženci delavnic iz različnih vej prostovoljstva, je bilo navdušenje veliko saj so se začela spletati poznanstva in izmenjava izkušenj, ki jih imajo.

 To vse jih je vzpodbudilo, da se še naprej udejanjajo kot prostovoljci, nabirajo izkušnje in se preko neformalnih usposabljanj povezujejo z drugimi prostovoljci, tako na lokalni, nacionalni in nadnacionali ravni.

Workshops for better soft skills of volunteers

In life, each of us is trying to contributing their best, according to our knowledge and skills. The point of it is to share what we have and also to help others on their way of becoming a better person, and indirectly to a better organization and society.  With The learning partnership TMYC  Training Centre Kadis 2002 has decided to go towards new challenges. Our campaign was focused on the dissemination activities, personal contact with volunteers, discussions about their past experience and personal changes that have followed from this. We were also focused on collecting  interviews and life stories, we visited them even at Šentjakobski theater, where we discovered a specific area of ​​voluntary activity.

Various activities have contributed to raising the visibility of volunteering, linking volunteers at the local and state level, and finally to the linking of volunteers at the level of partnership.

Volunteers from different areas have different qualifications for working with users. After careful consideration, we decided to offer workshops for volunteers to raise their soft skills of problem solving. The workshops were conducted in May and were met with warm reception and so we organized a total of four workshops in Slovenia and even outside our borders.

The workshop participants came from different types and branches of volunteering, the Scouts, volunteer in the local youth centers, youth organizations (Youth Dragons), volunteers from  Friends of Youth Association, volunteers from Voluntariat.

The workshops were aimed to help volunteers to raise awareness of the different angles of communication and response to conflict. In this day and age we are confronted with many conflicts and tests whether in the area of relationships, family life, workplace or in the area of volunteering. We can overcome these obstacles with courage, will and good communication skills.

After actively participating in these workshops volunteers gave a positive feedback, telling us they acquired useful communication techniques, openness to change in their way of thinking so that now they can easily connect with the whole thought and life purpose. In the problems they have encountered before they have recognized the potential for growth and transformation all of which will benefit them in voluntary work.

Given that the workshop participants were from the different branches of volunteering, there was a lot of excitement in the beginning as they began to form new friendships and share experiences they have.

This whole experience has encouraged them to continue with their work as volunteers, accumulate new experience and attend informal trainings and also connect with other volunteers at local, national and transnational levels.

I grew up with honorary work. I drank it,  so to speak, with my mother’s milk. As a small girl I sat at the back of the bicycle when my mother went to the garden huts of the refugee families that were accommodated in our quarter. She brought to these people, who lived in the small provisional homes, food and clothes from the care packets, that from somewhere in America landed in our church community and were distributed by my mother and the other women.

I remember many evenings in our small cellar, where the women opened the large, round, gold-coloured tin cans, and with a string cut into small peaces the yellow cheese balls that these contained. Then they packed the pieces to bring them on the next day to the families in need.

My mother personifies for me honorary work as such. She was always engaged in social work as a so called “Elisabeth-Frau”, for which she got  from the Charitas-Association to the 50th jubilee of her honorary work a medal and words of thanks. A few words and a bouquet of flowers as acknowledgement for 50 years of unpaid work in scope equivalent to a part-time position that she untiringly dedicated to the catholic church. She organised visits to older members of the parish, the sick and the needy and she was very active in these visits herself. How many people did she accompany in their dying! She organised community celebrations, travel events, bazaars and much more, following the example of St. Elisabeth von Thüringen, who is depicted in various stories as a person who in spite of her royal birth, took care of the poor and the sick and went from house to house with a basket full of bread. And so we also went with our mother to the poor and the sick, and when I got a little older, I was sent as a matter of course alone on the way to “give up” something.

Honorary work means for me the work of a woman, whose husband was often absent on business trips, who took care of the household and four children,  and who was so engaged in her honorary work that we only met at home at lunchtime, when she quickly prepared for us children something to eat. There was time, when I was jealous on this voluntary work that occupied my mother so much so that she quasi forgot us sometimes. I also wanted a mother who had time and who waited with the food for the return of her child from the school. And it was annoying sometimes to be involved in all sorts of social actions, without being asked – as a matter of course. But when I grew older, I realised that we have got from our mother something much more important than punctuality and personal comfort. Namely the consideration for others and improvisation ability, organisation talent, and also the ability to put own situation into perspective and to take responsibility for the hardship of others.

She is for me a model of a seizing humanity that she applied in the many fields of honorary activity. Social engagement conditioned my childhood and youth and later I also became active in youth groups of the parish, as school spokesperson and in many other areas. Later I became the spokesperson in the student community and so continued a long history of my honorary work, in my case always connected with the focus of my professional work in the field of education.

Also today I am involved in all sorts of honorary activities, although my time schedule does not allow so much time for it as I would like. This work, this I understood, brings me in contact with many people and makes communication possible that many people have to buy through the media. It sharpens my perception of many things of life and also my professional work was enriched and influenced by many of these activities. In my post-professional life I will do surely many things for which I do not have time now but I am sure, that I will continue and increase my honorary activities, perhaps in very different areas.

2.  Volunteering in Europe – reports of the groups involved in the project

2.1. The Polish group presents its work with migrants. Further more it recapitulates the results of the last tell-me meeting in Slupsk.

2.2. Report of the Berlin group
The Berlin group had invited Dagmar Schilling to present her FIBIONACCI- mentoring project, that she had invented. This program aims at supporting highly gifted children who often show conspicuous behavior in school and everyday life because they go unchallenged on a regular basis. The support is done by older volunteers in a one-to-one partnership. The service encompasses what follows: assistance in education; school social work;counseling parents on school; cooperation projects with schools; offer early advice for mothers, for pupils with and without migration backgrounds; promote highly gifted children by specialized programs.

2.3. Presentation of Ulm delegation
We presented some of ZAWiW`s volunteer projects including U3GU, ASSIST, Ulm-liner and also our own volunteering activities.

3. In the afternoon we followed the invitation to participate in the senior-meeting of the „Community Café“. The C.C. is maintained and supported by a lot of senior volunteers.

4. Next, there was the meeting of the project coordinators. At the beginning H.Spindler (Berlin) pointed out that intensifying must be developed if the plan targets shall be reached by the end of May. For that purpose, all partners should use the Tell-me website much more frequently. Moreover a lot more direct and bilateral online meeting should take place until the end of May and be documented on the website. Overall conclusion was that the website could keep its shape but there should be implemented more pictures.It was agreed that Ulm should provide for the integration of pictures and videos in case a partner having technical difficulties.

Finally, until September all of the final reports have to be submitted to the National Agency. Spindler announced that Claudio will send a list of questions to all the partners that must be taken into account for the final report. He himself, Claudio, would take care of part A of the final report. For the last meeting in Slovenia the following topics were proposed: the question of the quality of volunteering, the question of extraordinary volunteering work, overview and a comparison of volunteering in various European  countries.

5. Brian McKechnie presented the Centre for Life Long Learning of Strathclyde University in an exciting and vivid manner. Especially interesting was the lecture of Jim King who presented the Volunteer Centre of Glasgow. The Centre has a large database which encompasses all volunteer project as well as the names of potential volunteers which enables quick networking activities. Alistair Wilson of the education faculty of Strathclyde University presented a very impressive intergenerational mentoring project which enables graduate as well as non graduate students to fulfill their individual professional perspectives which even includes the access to university. Experienced and qualified seniors accompany them in a one-to-one partnership as long as the goal is reached.

6. In the afternoon members of the Third Age University „Learning in Later Life Students and Clubs“ presented the results of their various working groups such as architecture, foreign languages, history, biology an genealogy.

7. Presentation of the Spanish group
The Spanish partners presented their intergenerational project which is called „New Horizon Barcelona“. The idea: to write life stories. Older people want to talk about their lives. Seniors read their stories to children aged 6 to 12. The children illustrated the stories by paintings, some of which were published together with a selection of the stories in a book. The project had been awarded several times.

8. This was followed by a tour on the base campus which was guided by senior volunteers.

9. In the late afternoon we went to Loch Lommond where a boat trip took place. The meeting ended with a dinner at the nearby lakeside country house „Ross Priory“ which is university’s property.

10. Conclusion
The Tell-me meeting in Glasgow was very informative and stimulating. This was largely due to the excellent and careful preparation, organisation and supervision by Linda Scott. The intensive informal discussions in a relaxed atmosphere at the conference made even friendships possible. Some members of the Polish delegation in particular expressed their desire to reinforce contact with the Ulm group. They suggested mutual visits to intensify cultural exchange and to plan further participations in European projects. All in all we were very satisfied with the procedure and the results of the conference.

2.1. Die polnische Gruppe stellt ihre Arbeit mit Emigranten in Slupsk vor. Außerdem

2.    Bericht der Berliner Gruppe.
       Die Berliner Gruppe hatte Dagmar Schilling, eine Dipl. Pädagogin eingeladen,ihr
       FIBONACCI-Mentoren-Programm vorzustellen. Dieses Programm hat zum Ziel,
       besonders begabten Kindern, die häufig in der Schule und im Alltag auffälliges
       Verhalten zeigen, weil sie oft unterfordert sind durch ältere Freiwillige in Eins-zu-
       eins-Partnerschaften individuell zu betreuen. Das Ziel dieser Betreuung ist, Hil-
       fen bei der Erziehung, Schulsozialarbeit, Elternberatung an Schule, Kooperati-
       onsprojekte mit Schulen, frühe Beratung für Mütter, für Schülerinnen und Schü-
       ler mit und ohne Migrationshintergrund anzubieten und die Hochbegabung
       durch maßgeschneiderte Angebote zu fördern, wobei insbesondere auf Spezial-
       interessen der Kinder fachkundig eingegangen wird.

2.3 Präsentation der Ulmer Delegation
      Wir stellten einige Freiwillige Projekte des ZAWiW vor, u.a.U3GU, ASSIST, M4M,
      Ulm-Liner und unsere eigenen freiwilligen Aktivitäten vor.
3.   Am Nachmittag waren wir in East Kilbride im Hub
      Community Cafè eingeladen, einem gut besuchten Seniorennachmittag. Die gan-
      ze Organisation wird von vielen freiwilligen Helfern getragen. (Bild 3)

4. Im Anschluss daran fand das Meeting der Projektkoordinatoren statt. Zu Beginn  der Sitzung wies Herbert Spindler darauf hin, dass man noch verstärkt Aktivitäten  entwickeln müsse, wenn man das geplante Soll bis Ende Mai erfüllt haben wolle. Wichtig in dem Zusammenhang sei, dass die tell-me-website wesentlich häufiger von allen Partnern besucht, genutzt und kommentiert werde. Außerdem sollten noch mehr bilaterale Kontakte und online-meetings stattfinden und auf der Website doku- mentiert werden, dies bis Ende Mai. Insgesamt wurde festgestellt, dass die web-site so bleiben könne, wie sie ist, es sollte jedoch mehr Bildmaterial eingebaut werden.
Vereinbart wurde, dass Ulm für die Integration von Bildern und Videos sorgen würde, wenn ein Partner technische Schwierigkeiten damit habe, dies bis 15. Juni, auf jeden Fall vor dem Treffen in Slovenien. Ende September müssten die Abschlussberichte an die nationalen Agenturen eingereicht werden.
Herbert Spindler kündigte an, dass zuvor Claudio dafür den Partnern einen Fragen- katalog für den Abschlussbericht zukommen lasse. Er selbst würde Teil A des Ab- schlussberichts erledigen.
Für das letzte Treffen in Slovenien wurden folgende Themen und Programmpunkte vorgeschlagen: Das Niveau der Freiwilligenarbeit in der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft Sloveniens, besondere Freiwilligenarbeit in Slovenien ( möglichst als Power-point-Präsentation), Überblick / Vergleich über / zwischen Freiwilligenarbeit in verschie- denen Ländern Europas, Orgelspiel als kulturelles Begleitprogramm. 5. Brian Mc Kechnie  von der University of Strathclyde stellte das Center for Liefe Long Learning der Strathclyde University spannend und anschaulich vor.
Sehr interessant war der Vortrag von Jim King, der das Volunteer-Center of Glasgow vorstellte. Dieses Zentrum verfügt über eine große Datenbank von nötiger Freiwil- ligenarbeit und freiwilligen Helfern, über die eine kurzfristige Vermittlung erreicht wer- den kann.
Alistair Wilson von der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Strathclyde University stellte ein besonders beeindruckendes intergenerationelles Mentoring-Projekt vor, bei dem Schulabsolventen mit unterschiedlichen Schulabschlüssen zu einer ihrer Person und ihren Fähigkeiten angemessenen beruflichen Perspektive, ggf. auch zum Zugang einer Universität geführt werden sollen. Erfahrene und ent- sprechend qualifizierte Seniorinnen / Senioren begleiten jeweils in einer Eins-zu-eins-Partnerschaft die betreffenden Jugendlichen so lange, bis dieses Ziel ( die entspre- chende Berufsausbildung oder der Universitätseintritt) erreicht ist.

6. Am Nachmittag zeigten Mitglieder der Third Age University „Learnig in Later Live Students Association und Clubs“ die Arbeitsergebnisse ihrer verschiedenen Arbeitsgruppen, wie etwa Architektur, Fremdsprachen, Geschichte, Biologie, Genealogie u.a. vor. (Bild 3)

7. Präsentation der spanischen Gruppe
Die spanischen Partner stellten ein intergenerationelles Projekt, „New Horizon Barcelona“ vor.Die Idee: Lebensgeschichte(n) zu schreiben. Ältere Menschen wollen über ihr Leben erzählen. Seniorinnen und Senioren lasen sechs bis zwölfjährigen Schülerinnen und Schülern ihre Geschichten vor. Die Kinder malten zu den Ge- schichten Bilder. Einige davon wurden zusammen mit einer Auswahl von Geschich- ten in einem Buch veröffentlicht. Das Projekt ist vielfach prämiiert worden.

8. Im Anschluss daran fand ein Rundgang über das ausgedehnte Universitätsgelände statt, der von freiwilligen Tour-Gides (Senioren) geführt wurde.

9. Am späten Nachmittag fuhren wir zu Loch Lomond, wo eine Bootsrundfahrt statt- fand.
Den Abschluss des Treffens bildete ein Abendessen im direkt am See gelegenen country house „Ross Priory“ der Universität.

10. Fazit
Das Tell-me-Treffen in Glasgow war sehr informativ und anregend. Dies war nicht zuletzt der exzellenten und umsichtigen Vorbereitung , Organisation und Betreuung durch Linda Scott zu verdanken.
Die intensiven informellen Gespräche in entspannter Atmosphäre am Rande der Konferenz ermöglichten gar freundschaftliche Kontakte. Insbesondere einige Mit- glieder der polnischen Delegation drückten ihr Bedürfnis aus, die Kontakte zur Ulmer Gruppe intensivieren zu wollen. Ihre Vorschläge: gegenseitige Besuche organisieren, kulturellen Austausch zu ermöglichen und die gemeinsame Teilnahme an europäi- schen Projekten zu planen.
Alles in allem waren wir mit dem Ablauf und den Ergebnissen der Konferenz sehr zufrieden. (Bild 5 + 6)

Ich bin 53 Jahre alt und freiberufliche Autorin nach einem literaturwissenschaftlichen Studium mit Promotion über das erzählerische Werk von Eduard von Keyserling. Ich bin verheiratet und habe drei Kinder im Alter von 20 Jahren, 18, Jahren und 15 Jahren.

Ich mache eine Ausbildung zur Prädikantin in der evangelischen Kirche im Rheinland. Es ist ein Ehrenamt, zu dem ich innerhalb von zwei Jahren ausgebildet werde. Danach werde ich ordiniert und bin sozusagen als ‚ehrenamtliche Pfarrerin‘ tätig: „befähigt zur Verkündigung des Evangeliums und zur Verwaltung der Sakramente“.  Zu der Ausbildung bin ich von meinem Presbyterium entsandt worden. Nach langjähriger Arbeit im Kindergottesteam, bei Familiengottesdiensten und verschiedenen Andachten hat mich mein Pfarrer, der in der Ausbildungszeit mein Mentor ist, mich gefragt, ob ich mir die Tätigkeit vorstellen könnte.

Ich halte Gottesdienste mit Abendmahlsfeiern, führe Taufen, Trauungen und Bestattungen durch, habe allerdings kein Unterschriftsrecht und kann nicht befasst werden mit Verwaltungsaufgaben der Gemeinde. Ich kann keinen Pfarrer im Urlaub vertreten, sondern lediglich einzelne Amtshandlungen übernehmen.

Meine Tätigkeit ist auf meine Kirchengemeinde begrenzt und kann nur in Ausnahmefällen und mit Genehmigung des Superintendenten (Vorsitzender des Kirchenkreises) außerhalb ausgeübt werden.

Erläutern Sie, was Sie zu der Arbeit motiviert!

Es ist die ideale Mischung zwischen innerem Zuwachs und äußerer Tätigkeit, d.h. es beschäftigt und bereichert mich innerlich, intellektuell und seelisch, und gibt mir die Möglichkeit, außerhalb meines Familienkreises nach außen zu wirken. Es ist insgesamt also ein ‚gutes Werk‘.

Hat Ihre ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit Anknüpfungspunkte mit Ihrer (früheren) beruflichen Tätigkeit? Wenn ja, welche?

Die Arbeit mit dem Wort, mit Texten, mit Textanalyse und Interpretation, mit Sprache, mit allen Bereichen der Kunst, vor allem Musik, verbindet die Prädikantenarbeit mit meiner beruflichen Tätigkeit als Literaturwissenschaftlerin und Autorin.

Gab es irgendwelche Highlights oder besondere Behinderungen bei der ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeit?

Highlights: zu sehen, dass ich den Menschen ‚etwas geben‘ kann, Hoffnung, Zuversicht, Trost, Glück, Freude, Halt, Glauben.
Behinderung: meine Aufregung und die Angst, es nicht gut genug zu machen.

Hat sich durch die Tätigkeit in Ihrem Leben Wesentliches verändert?  Was? Inwiefern?

Ich habe mich mit mir und meinem Glauben auseinandergesetzt und tue das weiterhin, das bereichert mich, erweitert meinen Horizont, bringt mich unter Menschen, erfüllt mich.

Hat sich die Sicht auf das Ehrenamt während Ihrer Tätigkeit verändert? Inwiefern?

Nein, ich beginn erst, die Möglichkeiten auszuschöpfen; es gibt allenfalls die Gefahr, ‚zuviel‘ zu tun.

Nein, im Moment bin ich absolut zufrieden so.

Hat sich die Tätigkeit auf Ihr persönliches soziales Umfeld ausgewirkt?

Durch die zeitliche Inanspruchnahme ist es privat manchmal ein bisschen schwierig, allen gerecht zu werden.

Ich habe andrerseits viele Menschen kennengelernt und es beginnt sich eine Art Gemeinschaft zu bilden, die ich mir immer gewünscht habe und die ich für einen wesentlichen Bestandteil gesellschaftlichen Lebens überhaupt halte.

Welchen zeitlichen Umfang nimmt die Tätigkeit in Anspruch?

Schlecht zu beurteilen, durchschnittlich täglich eine Stunde.

Teilweise ja, mit meinem Mentor, verschiedenen Gruppen, je nach Projekt.

Im Gottesdienst im Prinzip ja, aber da gibt es auch den Kirchenmusiker und die Presbyter, die eingebunden sind.

Wie sieht ein normaler Einsatz aus?

Unterschiedlich: Gottesdienst im Altenheim, Schulgottesdienst, Gemeindegottesdienst, Trauung, Konfirmandenunterricht, Konfirmandenfreizeit….

Wie häufig gibt es normale Tage? Kann man gut vorausplanen?

Wenn man kann; man muss vorausplanen.

Welches sind häufige Schwierigkeiten? gelegentlich kurzfristige Änderungen, Konzentration in einem bestimmten Zeitraum, Häufung von ‚Einsätzen‘, Terminstau.

Wie oft sind Sie „im Dienst“?

Mehrmals im Monat

It is great fun and the children are actively encouraged to look at the exhibits in the gallery.   Many of the morning workshops are based on items in the current collection and this stimulates lots of conversation and art work within the group.

Many of the children have been with this project since its inception 10 years ago and it is good to see how they have developed a keen interest in all forms of art and of course to see the little brothers and sisters coming to take part in our activities.  Many of the children show real promise and will hopefully be able to continue with an interest in art for many years to come.

Tours take place in the Gallery at weekends and numbers fluctuate depending on what exhibitions are taking place.  The Glasgow International Exhibition, with exhibits in several galleries is attracting lots of interest and encourages visitors to travel to some of the other galleries in the area.  An example at GOMA this weekend of the exhibits by Karla Black attracted 3,500 visitors on one day – a record for this venue.

Nazywam się Wanda Drozd. Urodziłam się w roku 19..i mam sporo lat. Pochodzę z terenów “najlepszej Polski” czyli z terenów pomiędzy Wisłą a Bugiem, okolica Dęblina gdzie bardzo dostojnie i sentymentalnie płyną Bug i Wisła. Tam kończyłam swoje szkoły i spędziłam lata młodości.Po skończeniu szkoły średniej zostałam z nakazem pracy skierowana do Państwowego Gospodarstwa Rolnego w Zegrzu Pomorskim k. Koszalina.

Mój ojciec zginął najprawdopodobniej na Zamku w Lublinie. Nie mam do dzisiaj żadnej innej wersji jego losów. Mąż walczył w Polskich Siłach Zbrojnych na Zachodzie rozpoczynając swoją wędrówkę do Kraju od obozu w Bernau, potem Iran, Tobruk no i Monte Casino. Daleka droga!
W naszej Polsce pracowałam zawodowo w Słupsku i okolicach. Teraz jestem emerytką i szczęśliwą babcią. Ot i tyle.

Jakie są Pani pasje i zainteresowania?
Całe życie poświęcałam na pracę zawodową, wychowanie dzieci oraz na działalność społeczną. I to mi zostało. Kiedy zostałam sama, skierowałam się do organizacji Caritas, by zapytać czy nie potrzebują pomocy. Potrzebowali! To był rok 2002. Najpierw pracowałam w świetlicy socjoterapeutycznej. Brałam udział we wszystkich organizowanych tam akcjach. Czy to zbiórka darów świątecznych czy też kwesta na rzecz ubogich, szczególnie mi bliskich dzieci. Wykonuję  ręcznie- detale dekoracyjne szydełkowe, które sprzedawane w naszym sklepiku zapewniają część dochodu organizacji.
Były sytuacje w których należało bardziej bezpośrednio zająć się obcą rodziną, także wspomóc finansowo.
Tak zupełnie prywatnie, to mogę dodać iż jestem wziętą działkowiczką i od wielu lat spędzam wiele czasu na działce. To moja ambicja i jednocześnie bardzo piękny wypoczynek.Tu mogę ukoić duszę pięknem przyrody. Szalenie lubię chodzić po górach.

Jak zaczęła się Pani przygoda ze Słupskim Uniwersytetem
W roku 2004, czyli zaraz po uformowaniu się Uniwersytetu, zgłosiłam swój akces i wybrałam jako swoje pole zainteresowania grupę chóralną, biologiczną  oraz przede wszystkim grupę wolontariuszy, której obecnie jestem koordynatorem.
O Uniwersytecie dowiedziałam się od znajomych i nie wahałam się ze wstąpieniem. Uznałam, iż to jest miejsce w którym mogę pogłębić swoją wiedzę, spotkać ludzi dobrej woli i “wyrwać się” z domowej samotności.

Co sprawiło,że  zdecydowała się Pani pracować w wolontariacie.
To sprawa mojej  osobowości i kontaktów z Centrum Wolontariatu w Słupsku. Zadania jakie mi przydzielono wciągnęły mnie jak wir w wodę i wnet podjęłam się organizacji grupy wolontariuszy w SUTW. Pracuję także jako wolontariusz  i poza SUTW. Do tej pracy upoważnia mnie uzyskany Certyfikat Koordynatorów i Opiekunów Koła Wolontariuszy.

Co konkretnie robi Pani jako wolontariuszka. Kto korzystał z Pani działań?
W SUTW wykonuję prace pomocowe udzielane naszym chorym członkom, koordynuję oraz sama wykonuję zadania w instytucjach społecznych takich jak; Dziennym Domu Pomocy Społecznej”Bezpieczna Przystań”, także w Domu Pomocy Społecznej “Leśna Oaza”. Udzielam się w Przedszkolu Integracyjnym nr 8 a także w Warsztatach Terapii Zajęciowej. Tak szacunkowo mogę powiedzieć, iż mam pod opieką ok 250 pensjonariuszy w różnym wieku i o bardzo różnych potrzebach.

Które ze swoich umiejętności wykorzystuje Pani jako wolontariusz?
Przede wszystkim wykorzystuję swoje doświadczenie życiowe, swoją wiedzę a ponadto wiedzę i umiejętności nabyte w trakcie szkolenia specjalistycznego dla koordynatorów. Są to takie podstawowe umiejętności jak prace domowe, w tym kuchenne, szydełkowanie, opieka nad obłożnie chorym, pierwsza pomoc czy bezpieczeństwo i higiena pracy.

Co Pani osobiście uzyskała pracując jako wolontariuszka?
Mam osobistą satysfakcję z faktu iż udzieliłam pomocy komuś w potrzebie. Poprzez pracę jako wolontariuszka czuję, że jestem zauważana, poważana, znana a przede wszystkim pomocna w każdej nieomal sprawie. Poznałam wiele osób które też pracują jako wolontariusze. Tworzymy grupę wewnętrznie zintegrowaną.
Olbrzymią radość sprawia mi pomaganie dzieciom i młodzieży. Ciągle tej pomocy oni młodzi szukają. Oni rozświetlają moje mroczne czasami dni. Uczę się być pokorną wobec ludzkich słabości czy trudnych zdarzeń losowych.

Z czego jest Pani, jako wolontariuszka, bardzo dumna?
Jestem, pracując jako wolontariuszka, o wiele młodsza, czynna, przydaję się innym, mam ciągle motywację by szukać lepszych rozwiązań, pomysłów, czynów. Jestem szczęśliwa widząc zadowolenie podopiecznych. Czuję dumę, gdy mnie zapraszają na okolicznościowe spotkania.
Nie tak dawno jeszcze opiekowałam  się poważnie chorym Tadeuszem. Któregoś dnia powiedział; by Ci nie zabrakło sił do pomocy potrzebującym”. Wtedy poczułam nie tylko wdzięczność ale także wezwanie do pomocy takim jak Tadeusz.

Będzie Pani trwała przy swoich podopiecznych?
Jeżeli tylko siły mi pozwolą; tak. Mam teraz już wsparcie i pomoc osób których namówiłam do wspólnej pracy. Jesteśmy zespołem. Moja praca to także wynik pracy moich koleżanek i kolegów i im także należą się słowa podziękowania za wysiłek, poświęcony czas i zapał.

Czy może Pani liczyć na wsparcie ze strony SUTW?
Mam i mamy pełne poparcie i wszelaką pomoc ze strony SUTW. Pomoc ta wyraża się m.innymi; pomocą w mobilizacji wolontariuszy do poszczególnych akcji pomocowych. Pomoc finansową w wymiarze ograniczonym ale jednak widocznym, skierowania na szkolenia. Dużym wsparciem ze strony SUTW jest dostrzeganie naszej obecności, jej docenianie w formie wyróżnień, dyplomów i podziękowań.
