Profile of the Brno-Team

Bohumir Smolka:

From 1950 he has been working on geometry by using mechanical computers. In 2000 he started his study at the U3rdA and met new computer systems and the internet as well. Now he is interested in using computers for fine art.

Eva Velesikova:

She has been working with computers in her job (Research Institute) 10 years ago. Her suns gave her internet connection four years ago. She is using her experience in EuCoNet now.

Eva Matouskova:

She serves as a representative of senior students in the leading committee of the U3rdA on BUT. She brought new ideas and suggestions for a better arrangement of the U3rdA.

Hana Buchbergerova:

She has been using the PC during her active life, and the internet is the new tool for her now. Her hobbies are classic cars.

Stanislav Jansa:

I have had two loves in my life: teaching and computers. For many years I have served as an executive secretary at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Since retiring I have enough time to work for the U3rdA on BUT and on internet applications.

Alena Poidingerova:

I finished the Basic Course of the U3rdA on BUT and the course „Using the PC“. Now I am studying „Practice of the Internet“, which I find interesting because a member of my family is living in Australia. My hobbies are classical music and theatre.

Prof. Petr Vavrin:

Professionally oriented to System Science, Artificial Intelligence and Automation Control, he served as Rector of BUT from 1994 to 2000 and after this period he built the U3rdA focused on using modern technologies. In 2002 he was elected as President of the Association of the Czech Universities of the 3rd Age.

Lenka Shromazdilova:

Chief Administrator of the U3rdA at BUT. She is also the Executive Secretary of the ACU3rdA. Our senior students deeply appreciate her enthusiasm for the U3rdA and her very friendly communication in all necessary administrative concerns.

Ing. Michal Vojkuvka:

He graduated in 1998 in Computer Science and Engineering and now he is a postgraduate student of informatics. At the U3rdA he is responsible for PC courses offered to senior students. He has set up a special approach for making informatics education understandable to older people.
