Computer at home or at work

In December 2002, DATAB asked 512 Brno respondents the following question: "Do you have a computer at home or at work?" with the following results:

1.   Fifty-one percent of the respondents have a computer at home, 47% can use one at school or at work and 32% have no access to a computer at all. The men in the last group make up 25% of the total number of respondents while the women 37%. Only 5 % of juniors from 16 to 24 years of age have no access to a computer whereas this figure is as high as 89% in seniors over 62.

These overall results broken down into age groups are shown in Table 1 and, using an optimal identical 0 - 90 % scale, in Figures 1 to 3.

2.   A computer is used by 40% of respondents with basic education and 80% of secondary school and university graduates with the Brno inhabitants having a computer at home slightly more often than at work. All the students involved in the inquiry had access to a computer, 92 % of technical and administrative staff, 91 % of senior executives, 85 % of self-employed persons, 38 % of workers, but only 17 % of the senior citizens asked.

These overall results broken down into profession groups are shown in Table 2 and, again using the same 0 to 90 % scale, in Figures 4 to 6.
