Solill in Granada

Stand:

3. Methodology

The Aula Permanente de Formación Abierta is in charge of the project. It had to work out how to motivate the group, as there is not much experience in this type of research, so, we have been organizing, as we went along inviting people to take part, and motivating them to begin something, they did not know they were going to undertake.

Within the project, we began our work in a subgroup with Arnhem (Holland) and Lyon (France) on the topic of Housing and Living Spaces.

We are responsible for the topic "The Home", in three aspects:

  1.  the evolution of the principle of buying a house;
  2.  the physical aspects of house building;
  3.  and the house as a home - a social space.

We divided ourselves into these three sub-groups.

The complete group meets once a week, to:

  • formulate questions
  • discuss the presentations of each sub-group
  • propose the tasks which need to be completed between sessions
  • discuss the translations
  • make decisions
  • clarify areas of discord

In this we are helped, and motivated, by the facilitators, who also take the minutes.

As well, the facilitators help us to communicate with Arnhem and Lyon, and design the web pages. In addition, there are practical classes on how to use the computer.

We have learned many things:

  • to share our enthusiasm
  • to work with people who have different opinions
  • and who, although they live in the same city, were unknown to us

We have had discussions, shared ideas, and worked together.

The presentations have been rich and varied; and we have obtained personal enrichment at all levels. We have seen our lives change socially, to encompass this new activity.

We approach the new theme, Eating Cultures, with excitement, with eagerness, and with a new awareness.
