The Group
Stand:
The seniors from the project partner group in Granada
|
Hello, my name is Mariano Sánchez.
I am 33 years old and come from Murcia, a city about 300k northeast
of Granada. I have been living in Granada for 6 years and I am a
lecturer in Sociology in the University.
Since 1995 I have been interested in what I call Gerontagogía
- the study and practice of education for older people.
I´m a member of this project thanks to an invitation from our
colleague Carmen Stadelhofer. I think that we are going to have an
interesting and challenging time.
If you would like to get in touch with me, my e-mail address is: marianos@ugr.es

Hello everyone. My name is Pedro Cano.
I am 31 years old and come from Villanueva de la Reina, a little village
in the province of Jaén, although I have been living in Granada
for 14 years. I´ve been married for six years and have a son
of 23 months.
I have a degree in Computing, and I´m a lecturer in the department
of Languages and Computing Systems of the University of Granada.
Actually, I give classes in the school of computing engineering and in
the degree course of the department of Fine Arts in the university. Within
the department of open learning of the university I´ve been the coordinator
of computing subjects for two years. I also teach some of the classes.
The possibility of teaching older people (very different from the usual
university students!) and of working with them in the research field are
my motives for deciding to participate in the department of open learning
and also in this project.
Basically I have the reponsibility of coordinating and preparing the
pupils in the technical part of the project: the publication of the results
using the new technology through internet.

Hello, I´m Juan López.
I was born in Córdoba in 1970, but, since the summer of 88,
when I got to know this city, I consider myself to be a real 'granadino'.
I´m a lecturer in the department of Sociology, where I combine
my two great interests: the teaching of the methodoloigy of social investigation
and the study of older people.
I´m a person who believes that the most important things are
intimate friendship, sincerity and simplicity in treating other people
- I really take a lot of care with the 'human part' of social relaciones.
I really believe that there is nothing more important in life than
the family, good friends and spending one´s time doing what you really
want to do.

Hello, my name is Carmina.
I was born in Madrid in 1972, and lived there until we moved to Granada
in 1985. I am working at the moment as a research fellow in the Department
of Sociology of the University of Granada.
The family and older persons are the areas to which I dedicate most
of my time. My special area of interest is the relations between
grandparents and grandchildren.
I am really happy to participate in this project because in certain
aspects it is new for me, and also because it allows me to establish relationships
with people who can teach me many things.

My name is José María.
I was born in Burgos in 1931, and I consider myself pure Castilian
and descendent of El Cid. I am a Leo.
I attended the Colegio de los Hermanos Maristas (Marists) for 11 years
and gained my Bachillerato there. I won a place in my chosen career,
which took me to six different Spanish cities.
Since I was a child, I have played various sports and actually play
tennis with me friends three days a week. I like to do exercise,
to travel, to read, to dance, and to get to know things and to learn.
I, along with the other students in the third class of computing,
was invited to participate in the Sócrates project.
From what is happening in the group at the moment, and with the high
level of teachers we have, under the direction of the omniscient Mariano
Sánchez, multi-faceted as organizer, distributor of tasks and coordinator,
I dare to say that all of this coupled with the three 'C' s, clear, concise,
and concrete rules, means that we will do really well.
It´s really easy to find good points in this piece of research:
I will learn to: use the computer with ease; work in the exciting world
of computers and the Internet; communicate with good people; get to know
people from other contries, with different ideas, lives, and customs; give
my own little bit of help to benefit those who will come after us.

I was 10 years old.
In October, 1945, I began the first course of the Bachillerato as a

I´m Miguel Guirao, and I was born in Granada.
During my active professional life I was a doctor and lecturer in the
faculty of medicine (teching anatomy for more than 50 years, and genetics
in the university hospital for the final 20.) I am 76 years old,
and at this moment I am Professor Emeritus of the university.
I have been a student of the open learning centre of this university
since its inception; in the Grundvigt programme I represent OFECUM (Cultural
offering for seniors with a university background) which began in the open
learning centre to encourage other seniors to enjoy the cultural offering
of this city, thus enriching their free time.
My hobbies are painting( very wet watercolours!) and the recycling
of grarbage ( rubbish art, boredom, madness?) but my academic aim
is still to finish my book ¨Anatomy of Emerging Man¨which
is a compendium of reflexions on the significance of the human being, which
I have spent my whole life explaining to my students, a being with a destiny,
which for me, transcends his existential limits.
