The BBC experience of computer studies introduction has often set an effective example to follow for other countries. The project for a successful surfing process is about to be introduced in Italy thanks to an agreement between the "Ministero dell'Istruzione, Università e Ricerca" and Rai Educational (Italian broadcast company). The Rai teaching team will enable senior citizens connected through the satellite to acquire thorough competence.
Twenty univeristies belonging to the Federation of the Universities for Adult/Senior Citizens have joined the above mentioned project. These universities are expected to possess the following equipment:

  • A tv set with a reasonable-size screen (33 inches)
  • A video-recorder
  • A satellite dish and a decoder
  • Three or four computers with necessary software
  • Internet access (minimal system requirements, v-90 modem, better if ADSL)
  • Office furniture (filing cabinets for the storage of multi-medial material)
The project is due to be started in September.
