Herve BruniStand:Commentary on “SOLiLL” PROJECT
The UTA of Lyon is proud to have taken part in the SoLiLL project as a partner and beside our five other European partners. As a representative of the institution, my role within the group of students of Lyon was to supply a support and a technical assistance in the realization of the various initiatives relating to the laid down objectives. SoLiLL is first of all, the idea of the self-learning through research and the exploration of the methods necessary to implement for its achievement. It is then a collaboration between various groups resulting from cultures and different languages. It is finally the aspects of exchanges and communication between these groups by the Internet and the current possibilities of electronic diffusion. It is an ambitious and very justifying project which made it possible to our students to engage themselves in a team work implying an allied allocation of the functions and a constant confrontation between the steps of information retrieval and their setting in adequacy with the objectives of the group. It is still a long time of reflection and synthesis for working on the various results and their presentation to the other groups. The information retrieval carried out by the group of Lyon, as well as the communication of the works are a direct example of self-learning where some of our students have whole to learn on the heap (practice of a computer, internet use, drafting of synthesis, work on the images, use of various software…). the investment from the person in charge for our group, a UTA’s student, was total, in particular as for the control of the meetings, the links with our institutional partners and the other groups of European students and finally, for the production of works. The final result is imposing and reputable for all. The contribution brought to the covered subject testifies to serious and the value of this research task. The aspect of the discussions by Internet was not completely exploited and requires to be continued later on. The work carried out for the installation of a method of exchanges which tries to remove the barrier of the languages is exemplary. It asks to be more tested and criticized because if the device functions, it remains a very ‘demanding task’ and implies several speakers for each exchange (in particular for the translators). During all the period of the project, the pilots of the university of Ulm knew how to maintain the relations between the six European groups, in particular by the creation of mailing lists and forums. All that from now on is installed should not disappear and now we have all to be able to continue to use these various spaces of communication. In conclusion for this project, some of the starting objectives seemed impossible to us to reach. However, the progression of the actions shows finally, the feasibility and the achievement of these objectives. The two fixed years are not sufficient, one should not stop on a so good way... |
