Women's Portraits

Aldona Krištaponienė

Aldona is 77 years old. She lives in Rokiškis, Lithuania. She thinks that her life was very good. Aldona wanted to become a singer at first, but became a choirmaster.  Family means everything to Aldona.  Now she is in a good relationship with her children and always can trust on them.

My positive remembrances are:  marriage, the birth of children, time, when she founded the musical school in Zarasai. During the age of 40-60 years old, she was a director of Rokiškis musical school, her grandchildren were born already, Aldona remembers that she was interested in everything, directed the chorus, prepared the programs for song festivals in Lithuania.

Aldona stared writing books at the age of 60. The first one was “Life with a song”, a biographical book. The next “Secrets of music”, one can find 50 songs here and some musical crosswords. Now at the age of 77,  Aldona leads the organization of Lithuanian Pensioner organization “ Bočiai”, Rokiškis community.  She is a chair woman and a chorus head. Now Aldona is working for 12 years, it is unpayed job, they do about 40-50 concerts in a different places in the country per year, she is working hard.

She says about the new communications: “It is fantastic! It is the Golden Age! I talk with my children (one of my daughters lives in Germany), write and send documents to Vilnius without any problems”.  Aldona is very enthusiastic about computers, internet and skype. Communication is so important when she lives in Rokiškis, deep in the country.

Aldona doesn’t think much about death, she would like to fall in the scene and die, suddenly. ”Becoming old starts from the soul, - Aldona says, - I am happy that I am not old in my soul, I am singing, I am dancing, and 15 ups still can do.”

What she wants to advice to the new generations? Everyone must try to reach the highest results. Must respect parents, grandparents, older people. Aldona wishes never stop growing up, improving one’s own knowledge.
