The forth conference within DANET project, Danube networkers-neighbours at work, took place on May 9th, at the Public Open University Zagreb. Firstly, Jasna Čurin, the head of the University of the Third Age, delivered a presentation: DANET project- what we have done so far and what we are planning to do. After that, Gorana Lipovnjak, MA, from the Croatian healthy workplace association had a talk on: Waste disposal-contribution to environmental protection and Dražen Šimleša, Ph.D. from Ivo Pilar Institute and the Green network of activists groups (ZMAG), delivered a presentation under the title: Renewable energy sources, personal experience. After that, Rudolf Pereglin from Sveti Ivan Zelina presented a family agricultural eco farm Pereglin, their products and their way of cultivating, from a seed to the final product. Green buffet was served after the presentation.During the conference, the participants delivered their eco-message, answering the survey question: What can we do for the preservation of our environment on global as well as on personal level?

Survey results:

Globally:

-          enact implementable and encouraging laws, harmonized with the EU legislation

-          organize civil society in order to promote prevention

-          reward activists, penalize irresponsible ones

-          inform the community, systematically educate children and youth

-          media has a huge responsibility ( plastic, biowaste, medicine, household appliances)

Locally:

-          organize proper waste disposal ( plastic, biowaste, medicines, household appliances)

-          introduce renewable energy sources ( solar energy, wind energy)

-          encourage research of these energy sources

-          use the knowledge of old architects when we build objects ( save energy, use maximum of what nature gives us)

-          We have abandoned all this. We can get everything from the Earth, we just need to use it properly

Personally:

-don’t forget that the future of our beautiful planet depends mostly on people- on each person individually

- bring up children and youth in the way they start to think green. We should instill ecological awareness among future generations

Some everyday activities:

- save energy, water

- more walking, less driving

- to know how to properly dispose house waste and to hold on to it.

- keep your environment neat and tidy (arranged flowers on the balcony)

- to live in accordance with nature

The fourth conference was accompanied by the exhibition of work of arts made by students who attended art courses within The Third Age University. The topic was Water of Croatia.
