KÖRNERBRÖTCHEN - Rolls with Kernels

In German there are different words for rolls i.e. Brötchen, Wecken, Semmel)

 Doris Becker

Small breads - in present form and kind pastries of modern times (approx. 20 years old).
Probably created in connection with the Müsli/Kernel movement in the eighties' of the 20th century.

Contain:
whole corn + kernels of and/or pumpkin, sunflower, poppy, sesame but also linseed and hazelnuts are possible due to their healthy properties.

Poppy and sesame were used in bread already in the classical antiquity in the arabian-asiatic region.
There is practically no limit as the creation of new kinds of rolls and their special name as "Kürbi" or "Würzling".
In any case these are hearty delicious and healthy pastries made of whole-meal (wheat/rye/spelt) and shredded parts thereof + kernels in the dough - but mostly outside.
A religious background and/or roots in customs could not be traced.
