Pordenone

PORDENONE

Montasù

It is a new province established in 1968, which lies between Venice and Udine, and is therefore influenced by the habits of both towns. "Montasu'"and "Cornetto" started being produced in the 1930s, and were considered the most popular types of bread in the province of Pordenone. Nowadays, since people's tastes have changed, they are no longer produced on a regular basis. Only the "Cornetto" is still popular in in the Udine area. The "Montasu'" is made in pieces of 90-100 grams, with a medium-consistency dough, without any seasonong.
The "Cornetto" has a harder dough and its two strings are interlaced by a machine. The daily production of this bread lasted until the end of the 1970s, but today the most popular types are "Trionfo" or "Mantovana", which belong to the Veneto tradition.
