Donnerstag, 24.3.11, Scuola di Musica Sesto Fiorentino
Am Nachmittag war die Besichtigung einer privaten Musikschule und Gespraeche dort mit dem Direktor und einem der Lehrer geplant. Die Senioren, die dort arbeiteten, machten ihre Arbeit freiwillig und unentgeltlich. Die Scuola di Musica Sesto Fiorentino blickt auf eine lan ge Tradition zurueck,die weit ins vorige Jahrhundert reicht. In den Raeumen eines alten Adelsgebaeudes unterrichtet sie alle einschlaegigen klassischen Orchesterinstrumente und hat ein Buch mit Einfuehrungen in die verschiedenen Techniken herausgegeben. Nach dem kurzen Beispiel, das wir zu hoeren bekamen, spielt sie ausschliesslich Marschmusik. Damit ist sie offensichtlich in Sesto Fiorentino gut verankert. Bei der Vorstellung einer der Lehrer wurde deutlich, dass sowohl dessen musikalisches Training als auch der Unterricht, den die Lehrer geben, nicht nur freiwillig-unentgeltlich, sondern auch weitgehend autodidaktisch ist – wahrlich erstaunlich! Ueber die Qualitaet des Ergebnisses wagten wir kein abschliessendes Urteil abzugeben.

In the afternoon a date was arranged in a private music school and talks with the director and one of the teachers. The seniors who worked there do that voluntarily and without being paid. The Scuola di Musica Festo Fiorentino looks back on a long tradition until deep into the last century. In the rooms of an old feudal building it teaches all kinds of classical instruments and has published a book with introductions to the different techniques. Concerning the example we heard it concentrates only on military music (marches). With this programme it seems to be very well integrated in Sesto Fiorentino. When one of the teachers introduced himself it became obvious that his musical training as well as the teaching at the school is not only voluntary and unpaid, but also autodidactic, at least most of it – really astonishing! We didn’t dare to judge the quality of the results – finally.
