Third “Story-telling Café” in Ulm, Germany

On the 22nd of June 20111, the ViLE e.V. group in Ulm, Germany, organised the third story-telling café in cooperation with the Generationentreff Ulm/Neu-Ulm. The guests were Mr. Johann Kerner, the Chairman of the Landsmannschaft der Deutschen aus Ungarn, Kreisverband Alb-Donau/Ulm and Mrs Elsa Koch, Treasurer of this association. Both reported about the highlights as well as problems from their voluntary work that focuses on the maitenance of contacts to a small village in Hungary, a former home of German families, expelled after the 2nd World War. Mr. Kerner’s motivation is the preservation of the historical events of this village where he was born in. In his new hometown, Langenau near Ulm, he founded a small museum that presents objects from the everyday lives of the former German inhabitants in the Hungarian village. The town of Langenau had provided rooms for this museum.
