A letter to volunteers

My name is Staša and I have been a volunteer for 12 years. I started at the beginning of my high school, mostly because I wanted to try something new, meet new people etc. At the beginning, I helped organizing creative workshops for children – I have chosen that activity because I enjoyed working with children. During years, I was getting more responsible tasks and assignments, such as leading workshops, organizing language course, working in children kindergarten.

I have mostly had good experiences. I especially liked youth exchanges and trainings for volunteers which brought me knowledge, new friendships and a lot of positive energy and ideas for future work.     

I have broaden my horizons in many ways – I have met new people, travelled around Europe, gained experiences in different areas and became more open minded and also confident.

Currently I am a mentor of volunteers. I hope that my work will contribute to make voluntary work more recognized in society.
