Meine ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeiten / My voluntary work

Während meines ganzen Lebens habe ich versucht – zusätzlich zu meiner beruflichen Arbeit als Lehrerin und meiner Arbeit als Hausfrau und Mutter – ehrenamtliche Arbeit zu leisten, z. B. in der Kirchengemeinde,  in einem sog. Weltladen, in einem Chor und seiner Verwaltung ….

So war ich gut auf den Ruhestand vorbereitet.

Da setzte ich meine Arbeit in der Kirchengemeinde fort, im „Weltladen“ und im Chor. Zusätzlich arbeite ich in einem Museum, wo ich verantwortlich bin für die Bibliothek. Ich besuche Kranke im Krankenhaus im Auftrag meiner Pfarrei, ich organisiere Liederabende in einem Seniorenheim und spiele dort Klavier. Ich gebe auch Nachhilfe für Schüler/innen und unterrichte Deutsch für Ausländer. Manchmal hüte ich auf Bitten von Nachbarfamilien deren Kinder.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden, dass ich gesund bin und alle diese Dinge tun kann. Dank dieser Aktivitäten komme ich in Kontakt mit vielen Leuten und mache interessante Bekanntschaften und Erfahrungen.

Ich hoffe, dass ich noch lange ein aktives Mitglied der Gesellschaft sein kann.

 My voluntary work

During my whole life I have tried to do – in addition to my professional work as a teacher and my work as a housewife and mother – voluntary work, e. g. in the church, in a shop for the “third world”, in a choir and its management…..

So I was prepared for my retirement.

Then, I continued with my work in the church, in the shop for the “third world”, and in the choir. In addition: I’m working in a museum, being responsible for the library, I visit sick people in the hospital, I organize singing in a home for elderly people by playing on the piano. I’m also active as a private tutor for pupils and I teach German to foreigners. Sometimes I’m asked to look after some children in my neighbourhood.

I’m content to be healthy and to be able to do all these different things. Thanks to all these activities I come in contact with many people and make interesting acquaintances and experiences.

I hope that I will be an active member of the society for a long time.
