The letter to Glasgow

Dear Lynda.
On behalf of The Slupsk University of Theird Age I would like in few words to express our Thanks for a memorable days we spent in Glasgow.
Our stay in Glasgow, in connection with the project “Tell me about your commitment” was wonderful and therefore we thank you and  all of  your helpers for organizing the event.
Everything, from very beginning untill the morning of farewell was OK. We shall remember your hospitality.
The workshops we were hearing were very usuful in that sense that we  could learn a lot from them. They had told us  about the experiences the volunteers from another countries lived through, about the reasons for which they work as volunteers and about the people they are giving the hand to.
Our visit to the Hub Community Centre was delightful and the sound of music is in our ears even today. Thank you for this concert. Our thanks go to Ena Brown too for a splendid work She and Her team does at the Hub Community Cafe.
We are also thankful for the meeting in the Centre for “Lifelong Learning” at The Strathclyde University. We could learn a great deal about volunteering in Glasgow, about similarities and differences in between our countries.
The lectures were at the highest professional level and interesting for us after all.
The whole Programme of the Grundtvig Meeting was perfectionally lead out and executed- up to the mark!
We see the Glasgow Grundtvig Meeting examplary.
We wish you all the best.
With best regards from The Polish Group to The Grundtvig Partner Project.
Urszula Wyrwa- The President of Slupsk Univerisity of Theird Age.

I was one of the participants from the Glasgow group of Tell me… at this year’s international meeting of volunteers and it was a great pleasure to meet again some of the people I had met in Vienna last year. I was particularly impressed by the particiants from Poland who showed such enthusiasm and dedication. I found these meetings very stimulating bringing people together from different countries who all have one thing in common: how best to help those people who need our help. And in working towards that goal, there are no political boundaries!

  3. Indeed, it was a very interesting and lively meeting. It was good to meet again our friends from the other countries an to keep on the dialogue. The introduction about volunteering in Scotland was very good, although I don’t share all the statements made – in the next meeting, in slovenia, we could maybe come to some approach of this concept, without getting too theoreticla…. Thank you Linda (and all your team) for the work done.

We agree with gianni! The meeting was all the time exciting, informative and stimulating. As we wrote in our report there were al lot of highlights last not least the excursion to Loch Lommond and the “Ross Priory”. Once more our best thanks to the excellent and careful preparation, organization and supervision by Linda! Hope to see you all again in Ljubljana! We are looking forward to the last meeting!

  5. aw, am so glad that there are such positive comments, it was a great privilege to be the hosts in Glasgow and I was only sorry not to have been able to go to more of the “activities” my personal favourite was catching up with some of the people we met in Vienna, getting to know some of the other Glasgow delegates who went to other places after Vienna, I enjoyed all the speakers I heard and the meals. on the second evening at the Corinthian I suddenly remembered that is was near the restaurant that my son has a part time job so I texted him to see if he was at work and he texted back “Mother you have a better social life than me!”
so thank you for being such an easy group to entertain! and for your patience with people like me that cant speak other languages, I was so impressed with the levels of english and for you to be able tounderstand our Scottish accents! I hope we can continue Skype chats in the future.it was great fun being involved in making the welcome packs and being available for delegates generally, didnt Lynda so well! All the best from Mana
